Mexico’s Informal Sector Drives Employment Growth in 1H25

Mexico added 848,494 new jobs in the first half of 2025, according to data from INEGI’s National Occupation and Employment Survey (ENOE). While this figure represents the strongest job growth since 2019, the majority of the employment increase occurred in the informal sector.

Gustavo Pacheco Named UAM Dean Amid Education Reform

On July 23, Gustavo Pacheco was formally sworn in as Dean of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) for the 2025–2029 period, becoming the first graduate of the university’s undergraduate program to assume the role. The appointment coincided with federal announcements on expanded collaboration between upper secondary and higher education institutions under the new National High School (Bachillerato Nacional) model.
