Mexico City Launches Digital Job Matching Platform in Mixquic
Mexico City authorities have signed a new cooperation agreement aimed at expanding access to employment opportunities in Mixquic, a town located in the Tlahuac borough. The initiative is part of the broader “Territorios de Paz” strategy, which promotes economic development and social integration in peripheral areas of the capital.
The agreement, signed by the Ministry of Economic Development (SEDECO), the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (STYFE), and the digital employment platform Chambas.AI, seeks to use technology to streamline and secure job matching processes for residents in the area. According to officials, the program is expected to benefit up to 4,000 individuals by facilitating direct access to job offers and reducing the need for intermediaries.
The tool allows individuals to view nearby employment opportunities and create a resume without cost. “This is a way to bring solutions directly to the people,” says Manola Zabalza, Minister of Economic Development. “With tools like this, we can extend outreach and employment services to communities that are often underserved.”
Inés González, Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, says that the Mixquic Employment Agency, opened as part of the Territorios de Paz e Igualdad program, has served over 450 residents in its first two weeks. The agency is expected to become mobile to reach residents across various neighborhoods who face difficulties accessing centralized services.
“There is no more impactful social policy than employment — work that provides income and stability,” says González.
Local authorities emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for youth and women to access stable employment. Berenice Hernández, Mayor of Tlahuac, says that the initiative fulfills commitments made during a recent government visit, underscoring the need for continuous, on-the-ground engagement.
Max Werner, Co-Founder, Chambas.AI, reports that more than 600,000 people in Mexico City and over 1 million nationally are already using the platform. The service aims to provide equitable access to employment by integrating job-seeking tools into widely used digital channels.
