It is hard to name an industry that is not being reshaped by the pandemic. Digitalization, the e-commerce boom and its effect on logistics chains, remote working and customer-focused strategies are just some of the factors that have changed the labor market landscape. In Mexico, the highest-paying jobs in 2021 are in the logistics, transportation, distribution, manufacturing and production industries, closely followed by jobs in IT, revealed Adecco's 2021 Salary Guide.

Half of Mexico’s highest-paid jobs are located in the northwest and the northeast regions, according to the report, comprising the states of Aguascalientes, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo Leon, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas.

The 10 highest-paying jobs in Mexico, according to Adecco’s Salary Guide are:

  1. Infrastructure Management in the aerospace industry with a monthly salary of MX$72,200 (US$3639) in the Northwest region

  2. Operations Management in the construction/real estate industry with a monthly salary of MX$70,000 (US$3,528) in the Northeast region

  3. Deputy Director of Operations in the automotive sector with a monthly salary of MX$70,000 (US$3,528) in the Bajio region

  4. Deputy Director of Operations in the agriculture and livestock industry with a monthly salary of MX$67,500 (US$3,402) in the Northwest region

  5. Customer Success Manager in the manufacturing and production industry with a monthly salary of MX$65,500 (US$3,301) in the metropolitan area

  6. Deputy Director of Operations in the trade industry with a monthly salary of MX$65,500 (US$3,301) in the Western region

  7. Technical Superintendence of Infrastructure in the banking and financial sector with a monthly salary of MX$65,500 (US$3,301) in the Southeast region

  8. Program Manager Supervisor in the automotive sector with a monthly salary of MX$58,000 (US$2,923) in the Northeast region

  9. Customer Success Manager in the automotive sector with a monthly salary of MX$58,000 (US$2,923) in the Southeast region

  10. Supply Chain Manager in the manufacturing and production industry with a monthly salary of MX$57,000 (US$2,873) in the Northeast region

However, the report points out a distinctive gender gap in these jobs and industries. In an Infrastructure Management position in the aerospace industry, which ranks as the highest-paid job in the country, women make up only 7 percent of the workforce. “There is still an extremely large gender gap, boosted by the pandemic in the most sought-after positions. The only profiles where we see a tendency for women to be more prominent are those related to customer service and administrative activities,” the report notes.

Recruitment trends will continue to evolve, the report adds, as consumer trends will keep changing, forcing companies to accelerate innovation. Food and beverage companies, for instance, have faced consumption declines along with a disruption in the supply chain. “While at home consumption has increased, street consumption is almost at a standstill, historically generating the highest profit margins.” As this sector picks up, the report indicates that the logistics and delivery industry will see further changes driven by growing demand.
