The Tecnológico de Monterrey will launch a new undergraduate program in Digital Humanities and AI in August 2026. The degree aims to combine humanistic thinking with technological skills to prepare professionals for the ethical and social challenges posed by AI.
“The future professional global demands graduates not only with technical knowledge, but also soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and analysis of human impact,” says Lina Rodríguez, CEO, Digital Venture.
The program addresses the growing demand for versatile labor profiles. The accelerated digitalization and adoption of AI have created a market where competencies and skills are valued more than formal studies alone, with 54% of recruiters prioritizing abilities over degrees.
Central to the curriculum is the concept of “Double Literacy,” which combines mastery of digital tools with understanding of social, ethical, and cultural impacts. Students will learn to navigate the digital environment with critical thinking, data ethics, cultural analysis, and social awareness. The goal is to reduce social and cultural gaps while preparing professionals to address AI, automation, and big data challenges responsibly.
“We need to build technologies that promote justice and equity; making AI a tool centered on human rights is the path to addressing the ethical and social challenges we face today,” says Paola Ricaurte, Professor and Researcher, Digital Humanities Educational Innovation Group.
In Latin America, digital transformation offers a historic opportunity for sustainable development and social inclusion. According to the World Trade Organization, AI could increase regional trade value by up to 40% by 2040 if supported by adequate policies and skilled human capital.
