Turnitin announced the upcoming release of Turnitin Clarity, a tool aimed at enhancing transparency in student writing and supporting academic integrity. This will soon be available to Spanish-speaking educational institutions.

“Turnitin Clarity serves as a bridge between students and educators,” said Annie Chechitelli, Chief Product Officer, Turnitin.

The new solution integrates with Turnitin Feedback Studio and is designed to assist educators, students, and administrators by offering insights into the writing process, including draft histories, typing patterns, and originality indicators.

The launch responds to growing concerns among academic institutions about the role of AI and the need for transparent writing evaluation. With AI tools increasingly used across various disciplines, Turnitin Clarity aims to support schools' evolving integrity and assessment policies by capturing detailed metadata throughout the writing process. The platform allows educators to see how a student’s assignment is developed over time, instead of only reviewing the final submission.

Turnitin Clarity offers a dedicated composition space within the institution's existing learning management system, allowing students to draft, revise, and finalize their writing directly within the platform. Educators can access real-time insights on student behavior, such as pasted text and construction time, via a playback feature that reconstructs the writing session. These insights are intended to foster a fairer evaluation process and encourage responsible student engagement with generative technologies.

For administrators, the tool is positioned as a compliance and monitoring asset, offering documentation that supports institutional policies on academic honesty and AI use. With all information consolidated in a single platform, the tool reduces the need for educators to manage multiple software applications or request additional writing history from students.

Belén Correa, Director LATAM, Turnitin, emphasized the collaborative nature of the tool’s development. “The company closely partnered with educators to develop a streamlined experience and actionable insights that are easy to interpret,” said Correa.

Turnitin Clarity is expected to be available as a paid extension for Turnitin Feedback Studio users beginning in 3Q25. The rollout will focus on Spanish-speaking markets as part of Turnitin’s broader strategy to expand support for diverse educational communities.
