AI: A New Paradigm for Creative Potential

For many years, we have lived in a world where information has become the most potent asset, empowering those who possess it to exert significant influence and drive substantial growth. However, times are changing, and the democratization of information has introduced AI into the equation, making information more accessible and consequently altering the way we approach business development.

As history has taught us, the emergence of new technologies always brings about a shift in paradigms, particularly concerning the scarcity and availability of resources. This, in turn, prompts a complete restructuring of how the economy is constructed. In this instance, we are not discussing something entirely novel for humanity but rather the widespread adoption of the next game-changing technology: artificial intelligence (AI). The advancement of large language models and generative AI has ushered in a new era, introducing tools like Bard, ChatGPT, and even Midjourney, which are exerting a disruptive and intriguing influence across every facet of our lives.

All of this makes us feel like the future ahead is brilliant and full of new possibilities, but it’s up to us to get there.

We have created the idea that AI is the ultimate tool for improving productivity, that the real power behind all these developments is to improve efficiency within our every day, making our job and life more effective by automating every process, accelerating every aspect of our lives to previously unknown territories and, therefore, optimizing the economy. The truth is that viewing AI as just this is not only limiting its potential, but it’s eventually going to take it in the wrong direction.

Having a different view on AI and what it can actually mean for the creative industry (as well as our daily life) is fundamental in this moment to broaden its possibilities, because it’s not about just accelerating the way we do things today (that will happen), it’s about how AI can help us to reimagine the reason behind why we are doing things.

It’s right there where the real promise that AI should hold for the future. Efficiency and effectiveness both are great and AI has an active role in optimizing some processes. It would be wrong for us not to take advantage of that, but we should have our eye on what lies ahead. That should be centered on its capacity to reveal and realize ideas that thrive on innovation to get the greater win toward the future, because beyond its ability to automate and accelerate, the core of AI should be in how we can use it to scale progress, augmenting the way we imagine things can be done.

As professionals and experts in each of our fields, incorporating AI into our everyday set of tools can help us upscale the deliverables and outcomes, making the process easier along the way. But as experts we also have the need to visualize things the way others cannot, and we have developed the skills to do that with the tools we have in hand, but as those tools become democratized, the way that it is done becomes easier; therefore, the effort needed become less and less, demanding a new vision and innovative approaches on how to make the most out of this tool is what will be the differentiating factor, with those whose creativity goes beyond the known boundaries the ones who will find in AI a compliment to inspire bigger ideas on every level.

That’s why we need to stop pigeonholing artificial intelligence as only a tool to accelerate productivity. Instead, we need to embrace its full potential as an engine that will help us take collective progress to another level. We no longer need to hold on to the myth that limits its full capacity. We need to view it as a lever that will uplift creativity, giving us the time and energy to upgrade our craft and become the embodiment of imagination.

We need to change the mindset, go back to the beginning, and see artificial intelligence beyond what others have built, because it’s not only the democratization of information, the acceleration and optimization of processes, but an opportunity to free our true potential and elevate our creative output in every moment.
