Jorge Buitrón Arriola, President of Vortice IT, reveals that the exponential increase in technological adoption has catapulted the demand for cybersecurity services in Queretaro companies, projecting a notable 25% increase in investments for this year, as well as its intention to promote cybersecurity in companies. According to the State Digital Development Index (IDDE) 2023, the state is positioned as an epicenter of innovation and technology.

Vortice IT, according to its website, is a Queretaro cluster made up of technology-based companies, academic institutions, research centers, and governments with the intention of generating a collaborative network by virtue of providing associates with opportunities to improve their capabilities, become certified, develop their businesses, and obtain resources for projects focused on technological development and innovation.

"We already have a year and a half as a cluster,” during which “we have launched very specific seminars and workshops with very large cybersecurity providers to promote awareness and prepare the users,” said Jorge Buitrón Arriola.

The growing adoption of technologies has spurred the demand for cybersecurity services within Queretaro companies, according to Buitrón. Furthermore, projections anticipate a 25% increase in investments for cybersecurity services from companies this year, surpassing the 2023 annual growth of 10% in the IT industry.

"It is a very dynamic sector, not only in Queretaro but in Mexico and the world because technological adoption is increasingly taking place in companies, and people every day are more aware of the use of technology for the benefit of business," he exposed.

The first quarter of 2024 has been dynamic for Queretaro’s technology industry, which continues the momentum from the previous year when the industry reached a turnover of around US$1.1 billion in the state, driven by the growing technological adoption. Buitrón highlighted the dynamics of this sector nationally and internationally, highlighting an 8% growth last year and a positive forecast for the present.

Due to the substantial profits generated by the technology industry, Queretaro companies have shown a greater awareness of the need to safeguard their data and infrastructure. Buitrón noted that, on average, companies spend around 2% of their budgets on cybersecurity systems. Although this figure varies depending on the size of the company, Buitrón expects that figure to rise to around 5% by the end of the year. "Increasing digital adoption reinforces the importance of cybersecurity, and businesses are expected to be more aware of its necessity," he added.

Given the interest in strengthening the cybersecurity of companies and users, Vortice IT has developed specialized seminars and workshops in partnership with various institutions such as the State Government, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro.
