Telcel, Telmex, Telefónica and AT&T have activated contingency plans to ensure service continuity and protect critical infrastructure for Hurricane Beryl. These plans involve deploying specialized crews, emergency power plants, and monitoring networks to minimize interruptions and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.

AT&T's contingency plan includes active preventive monitoring of the network status in the impacted regions and assessing risks in priority fiber optic and backup routes. The company has also deployed crews of critical personnel and distributed power generators to ensure service continuity in the event of power failures. Additionally, AT&T has secured alternative satellite communication means and established close coordination with critical suppliers, Civil Protection, and government entities to optimize recovery actions. The company has activated the Solidarity Fund to support its affected personnel and sent communications with preventive measures, including a list of shelters and emergency kits for points of sale.

Telefónica, which does not have its own infrastructure, has established an operations base in Merida, Yucatan, equipped with spare parts and satellite communication equipment to be moved to different nodes in case of emergency. The company has also recharged diesel for the operation of emergency plants in its main nodes, including switching rooms and interconnection nodes.

Telcel has reported the mobilization of specialized crews to the main nodes that may require attention and has moved emergency power plants to ensure the operation of its cellular sites in case of power outages, according to Expansión.

Telmex has focused its efforts on securing critical facilities and strategic points such as power rooms and priority sites. The company has moved emergency machines and fuel to guarantee service continuity, supplied necessary materials, and placed protective barriers in its facilities. "Telmex monitors in real time the conditions of the backbone network to immediately detect any outage and start repair work with specialized personnel, as soon as the conditions and the authorities allow it," the company stated.

According to information from the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC), Hurricane Beryl has made landfall in Mexico as a category 1 hurricane, with sustained winds of 140 km/h and gusts of up to 185 km/h. Although it has been downgraded from its peak as a Category 5, it has left nine dead in the Caribbean before making landfall in Mexico. Currently, Beryl is expected to continue its path and return to impact the Yucatan Peninsula as a category 2 or 3 hurricane, then weaken to a tropical storm and possibly affect the states of Tamaulipas and Veracruz in the coming days.
