Innova Engineered Plastics Celebrates New Mexicali Facility
Innova Engineered Plastics celebrated the opening of a new manufacturing facility in Mexicali this week, marking a key expansion of its global production network for medical devices and other highly regulated industries.
The plant, which began operations earlier this year, was inaugurated during a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by company executives, board members, local government officials and industry partners. Guests toured the production floor, viewed samples and observed molding processes used in the facility.
“This facility represents the future of Innova with a global reach, a commitment to quality manufacturing, and dedication to helping customers simplify and strengthen their supply chains,” CEO Mark Rauenzahn said in remarks at the event. “Operating at full capacity just months after the initial build-out is a testament to the teamwork and demand that made this expansion possible.”
Located in Baja California’s medical device corridor, the Mexicali plant adds capacity for injection molding, reaction injection molding, cast urethane molding, thermoforming, CNC machining, finishing, assembly lines and in-house tool maintenance. The site is positioned to support customers seeking near-shore solutions with faster turnaround and reduced costs, the company said.
Innova is pursuing ISO 13485:2016 and AS9100 certifications at the facility, aligning it with the company’s operations in Shirley, Massachusetts. The certifications cover medical device quality management, and aerospace standards.
Founded as a provider of engineered plastic enclosures and components, Innova serves industries including medical devices, life sciences, aerospace, defense, robotics, data centers and diagnostics. Its products are used in applications ranging from surgical robotics to aircraft interiors.
