Nuevo Leon Strengthens ESG Commitments for 2025
The Second ESG Forum Nuevo Leon 2025 brought together more than 500 companies, sustainability experts, and public sector representatives to discuss the role of social sustainability in business competitiveness and transformation. The event, organized by the Ministry of Equality and Inclusion, took place at the EGADE Business School auditorium.
During the closing conference, Martha Herrera, Minister of Equity and Inclusion, emphasized that resilience in Nuevo Leon is built through alliances. She highlighted the impact of the Contribution and Social Impact Certificate, which enables companies to measure and report their social resilience investments. “We have supported companies in creating strategies that generate social well-being while strengthening competitiveness. Sustainability must be a collective commitment involving the private sector, government, and civil society,” Herrera said.
As part of the forum, the Ministry introduced the Corporate Equality and Inclusion Award 2025. The award includes two categories, Social Commitment and Social Investment Projects, recognizing companies committed to social sustainability. It also offers support to strengthen their social impact, improve strategy effectiveness, and facilitate access to international certifications. Companies can register for the award between March 5 and May 30.
The event featured discussions led by industry leaders on ESG integration in business models. Hernando Aguilera, CEO, Social Value Institute, presented strategies for leveraging social sustainability as a competitive advantage. Companies including Heineken, Nestle, Clarios, Natura México, and the Conscious Enterprise Center at Tec de Monterrey shared insights on ESG-driven decision-making. Dr. Boyd Cohen, Representative, EGADE Business School analyzed the role of innovation and sustainability in business success. FIFA representatives outlined how the 2026 World Cup will generate social and environmental benefits, including job creation and inclusive infrastructure development. Elida Godínez Ramírez, Director of Data & AI, Automation and Sustainability, IBM discussed the role of artificial intelligence in measuring social and environmental impact.
