Bombardier’s Global 8000 to Be Fastest Jet Since Concorde
Bombardier’s Global 8000 business jet program is progressing on schedule, with the first production aircraft in the final assembly stage at the company’s Greater Toronto Area (GTA), facility in Canada. The JET is expected to enter service in 2025.
The Global 8000 is poised to become the fastest civil aircraft since the Concorde, with a top speed of Mach 0.94 (1,161.37 km/h) and a range of 8,000 nautical miles (14,816 km), targeting high-end business travelers.
"It possesses outstanding short-field capabilities, allowing access to airports that other aircraft in its category cannot reach," said Stephen McCullough, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Product Development, Bombardier. He emphasized that the aircraft’s flexibility is a key advantage for customers in the business aviation market.
The first production unit is advancing through the final stages, with Bombardier aiming for an entry-into-service (EIS) date in 2025. “We are on track to meet our targets for this incredible aircraft, the fastest and most impressive ultra-long-range business jet,” said David Murray, Executive Vice President of Manufacturing, IT, and Bombardier Operational Excellence System.
The Global 8000 has already undergone extensive flight tests, including recent missions to Europe, which demonstrated its real-world performance capabilities. Test pilots praised the aircraft’s handling and efficiency, signaling strong results as it nears final production.
Beyond its speed and range, the Global 8000 will feature four distinct living spaces and a separate crew rest area, designed to maximize comfort on long-haul flights. The cabin boasts the longest seated length in its class, with a design that prioritizes health and well-being during travel.
The Global 8000 will connect major city pairs such as Dubai-Houston, Singapore-Los Angeles, and London-Perth, opening new opportunities for high-demand business routes.
