The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will offer two new grant programs to support the development of the next generation of pilots and aviation maintenance technicians. These grants are aimed at educational institutions, training organizations, and other eligible entities that can create programs to train the aviation workforce. Organizations can apply for grants of up to US$1 million per program during the fiscal year. The application deadline is Feb. 5, 2025.

Pilot Workforce Development Grants: These grants will fund programs that educate students to become aircraft pilots or unmanned aircraft system (UAS) operators.

Aviation Maintenance Technician Workforce Development Grants: These grants will fund programs that train individuals to become aviation maintenance technicians.

In fiscal year 2024, the FAA awarded US$13.5 million in grants to over 30 schools and organizations. The goal of these grants is to diversify the aviation workforce and support innovation in aviation training, with a focus on emerging technologies like unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
