The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has launched IATA Connect, a new platform designed to foster a secure community for aviation safety, security, compliance, and operational experts. This initiative targets professionals within airlines, regulatory agencies, and auditing bodies, providing them with a centralized space to share safety documentation and enhance collaboration.
Initially focusing on the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), the platform includes a private document repository equipped with analytical tools and benchmarking capabilities, according to A21.
The repository contains IOSA audit reports, relevant regulations, guidance materials, profiles of 440 airlines, industry alerts, and news sources, all designed for easy access and sharing among users. Approximately 2,300 aviation security professionals, including IOSA-registered airlines and regulators, have been invited to join this new community.
"IATA Connect will provide industry and government safety and compliance professionals with a means to make flights even safer by enabling real-time collaboration," said Willie Walsh, IATA's Director General. He emphasized that the platform streamlines the sharing of IOSA audit reports, compliance questionnaires, and updates on code-sharing partners.
IATA Connect is designed to evolve over time, incorporating user feedback to expand its capabilities. In addition to the new platform, it will feature a mobile application that includes two key IATA safety offerings: Safety Connect and Safety Issue Hub. Safety Connect serves as a long-standing secure forum for stakeholders to discuss operational resources, while Safety Issue Hub disseminates critical safety hazard information to prioritize and implement improvements.
