Banco Sabadell Drives Sustainability in Agribusiness Sector
Banco Sabadell will provide tailored financing solutions for the agribusiness sector in response to escalating challenges like rising temperature, droughts, and floods, which threaten Mexico’s agricultural output. These tools aim to enable companies to adopt technologies that enhance operational efficiency and sustainability
“Our commitment is clear: to support the growth of Mexico’s agribusiness sector with financing solutions that allow companies to expand responsibly. For example, we financed a large-scale project for a Chilean company to establish 143ha for blueberry production in Michoacan. This initiative utilizes cutting-edge technology to efficiently and responsibly manage water resources,” says Juan Ignacio Trujillo, Director of Agribusiness, Banco Sabadell Mexico.
Banco Sabadell’s involvement in agribusiness financing has grown significantly. By the end of 2023, the bank’s portfolio exceeded MX$14 billion (US$676.3 million), achieving an average annual growth rate of 10% over the past five years. Its primary focus has been on high-value segments, including horticulture, animal protein, and fruit cultivation.
