In recognition of its commitment to sustainable packaging, Grupo Lala has been honored with the 2023 Urban Forest Award by Bio Pappel. The award, now in its second edition, is presented by Bio Pappel's business unit, Titán, to acknowledge companies' efforts in environmental conservation.

“We focus on waste reduction, manufacturing recyclable packaging, and incorporating raw materials with higher recycling potential into all our products' packaging,” said Roberto Martínez, Manager of Institutional Relations, Grupo Lala, during the award ceremony.

The recognition underscores Grupo Lala's use of paper and cardboard packaging made from 100% recycled raw materials through a circular economy model. Throughout 2022, Grupo Lala's use of sustainable packaging led to the preservation of 89,807 trees, the conservation of 769,778m3 of water, the saving of 14.97 million kWh of energy, the preservation of 106,914m2 of landfill space, and the capture of 171,062t of carbon emissions, says the company.

“Each organization honored today has joined a value chain in support of the environment, along with their customers. Through the use of recycled paper and cardboard, we contribute to forest preservation and carbon emission reduction. This represents shared value and a tangible commitment to our planet,” said Miguel Rincón, CEO, Bio Pappel, during the award ceremony.

Bio Pappel developed the Urban Forest circular economy model, which involves recycling paper and cardboard on a large scale. The model, developed through successful integration with clients and suppliers, aims to forge an efficient and sustainable supply chain.
