The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) announced that Milk for Well-Being has opened 2,255 dairy stores over a period of just over three years, marking a historic milestone for the Social Milk Supply Program aimed at supporting vulnerable populations.

The new stores, established between April 2022 and July 2025, provide fortified milk to 355,611 people across the country. The program prioritizes access for children aged six months to 12 years, adolescents between 13 and 15, people with chronic illnesses or disabilities, pregnant or breastfeeding women, women aged 45 to 59, and adults 60 years and older.

Antonio Talamantes, Director, Milk for Well-Being, highlighted that the number of stores installed represents the highest coverage in the program’s 81-year history. The initiative now reaches 935 municipalities across all 32 states of Mexico, offering fortified milk at MX$4.50/L, MX$6.50/L, and MX$7.50/L, depending on the product.

Fortified milk contains essential minerals such as iron, calcium, and zinc, vitamins A, D3, and B12, and folic acid, nutrients that support proper bodily function and strengthen the immune system. SADER expects to have 12,100 stores operational nationwide by the end of 2025.
