Producers in San Juan Acozac, Puebla, completed their first export of vegetables to Oklahoma, marking a key step in the region’s agricultural and economic development, reports the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) recognized.

The shipment included 18t of vegetables spanning 27 varieties, such as carrots, flat and curly parsley, huauzontle, spearmint, hoja santa, spring onions, cauliflower, purslane, epazote, broccoli, papalo, pipicha, squash, celery, and beets. Valued at MX$350,000 (US$18,365), the shipment is bound for distribution in a supermarket chain in Oklahoma.

Julio Berdegué, Minister, SADER, says that the milestone reflects a successful collaboration between local farmers and the Puebla state representation office of the ministry. He emphasizes that this export aligns with broader public policies led by President Claudia Sheinbaum to strengthen the agricultural sector and contribute to national food sovereignty.

Officials say the shipment offers new commercial opportunities for farmers in San Juan Acozac. If the buyer is satisfied with the product quality, a weekly supply contract could be formalized. The projected volume could reach 578 accumulated t by December 2025.
