Brazil’s pork exports reached 144,000t in October, a 10.1% increase compared to the same month last year and the second-highest monthly volume ever recorded for the sector, according to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA).

The world’s fourth-largest pork exporter only fell short of the record set in September, when shipments exceeded 150,000t. ABPA said growth was mainly driven by higher demand from the Philippines, which offset a decline in exports to China. Japan and Mexico also increased their imports of Brazilian pork.

“We have seen a strong increase in pork exports, with major global markets gaining more representation among Brazilian destinations, such as Japan and Mexico. The results achieved so far consolidate the sector’s projected growth for 2025, with positive prospects expected to continue into next year,” Ricardo Santin, President, ABPA, said in a statement.

From January through October, Brazil’s pork exports totaled 1.2Mt, representing a 12.9% year-on-year increase. In value terms, exports rose 22.7% to US$3.046 billion, according to ABPA.
