Puebla’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held a meeting with barley producers from the municipalities of Libres, Cuyoaco, Tepeyahualco, Ocotopec and Zautla to strengthen the state’s forage barley supply chain.

Ana Laura Altamirano, Puebla’s Minister of Agriculture, led the meeting, where participants agreed to establish a working group with Granjas Carroll de México to define a fair price for barley, directly benefiting regional producers. Altamirano also offered access to machinery modules to improve efficiency and productivity in cultivation and harvesting.

Puebla continues to consolidate its position as a national reference and strategic cluster in grain production through ongoing collaboration between the state government and leading producers from highland areas such as Libres and Cuyoaco. Producers at the meeting highlighted the technical quality of Puebla’s barley and its reliable delivery volumes, which give it a competitive advantage in the market.

The state’s highland barley stands out for its technical properties, which are in high demand across the industry. To maintain this advantage, authorities announced the creation of permanent working groups to enhance farmer conditions, establish quality-based pricing, and provide greater certainty for local agriculture.

The Government of Puebla will also expand access to development programs and public policies aimed at supporting barley producers. This collaboration between producers and the government reinforces Puebla’s role as a key contributor to Mexico’s barley supply chain.
