The government of Sinaloa will provide financial support to local wheat producers through a state-funded program worth MX$80 million (US$4.3 million), Governor Rubén Rocha announced during a meeting with agricultural leaders in Los Mochis.

Under the program, producers will receive MX$400/t of wheat, with payments to be delivered before Dec. 5. The initiative aims to benefit growers with yields of up to 6t/ha, covering approximately 200,000t harvested in the municipalities of Ahome, El Fuerte, Sinaloa, Guasave, Angostura, Salvador Alvarado, Mocorito, and Navolato. “This support comes directly from the state government. It is not a debt; it is a way to help producers, and payments will be made in the first days of December,” Rocha said.

The governor clarified that the state’s contribution is independent of the pending federal payment related to the guaranteed price scheme, for which administrative procedures remain unresolved. He emphasized that the state assistance will be provided without conditions, respecting producers’ freedom to organize or express their demands.
