The State University of Sonora (UES) hosted the First Mexico-Cuba International Symposium on Agricultural Technologies, aimed at strengthening the training of agricultural professionals with a focus on innovation and sustainability.

The event targeted students of the Horticulture Engineering program, helping them develop skills to support Governor Alfonso Durazo’s efforts to improve agricultural production, efficiency, and sustainability in Sonora.

Carlos Ramírez, Director of the San Luis Río Colorado campus, UES, emphasized the value of international partnerships in professional training and the adoption of sustainable technologies in Sonora’s agricultural sector.

Specialist speakers included Dr. Antonio Morales Maza, INIFAP, focusing on agricultural research; Specialist María Concepción Quintero, who presented Postharvest Safety: Key to Food Security; and Dr. María Isabel Hernández, with the conference Use and Potential of Biofertilizers in Agriculture.

Through initiatives like this symposium, UES reaffirmed its commitment to internationalization, knowledge transfer, and sustainability, benefiting students and supporting the development of Sonora’s agricultural sector in alignment with state public policies.
