Guanajuato maintains its status as the premier producer in the Mexican automotive industry, with an annual production exceeding 800,000 vehicles.
Major contributions to this accomplishment originate from prominent manufacturers such as Mazda and Honda. Ramón Alfaro, Minister of Sustainable Economic Development, Guanajuato, highlighted Mazda's surpassing of production records and Honda's trajectory to surpass its 2024 production targets. "With these remarkable figures, the state remains a key player in automotive production," he added.
The state ranks among the top ten in Mexico for attracting large investments, particularly in the automotive sector. According to Alfaro, around 85 to 90% of the investment in the automotive industry is directed towards establishing new business units for next-generation vehicles.
Anticipated investments are slated to flow into Guanajuato, primarily from Asian countries like China, Japan, and South Korea. "The state remains a preferred investment destination due to its diverse project portfolio and dedication to fostering a conducive business environment," Alfaro concluded.
Despite challenges such as the recent uptick in violence in Celaya, the municipality has managed to fortify its position as the second-largest vehicle sales market in the state. Arturo González Palomino, president, Mexican Association of Automotive Dealers (AMDA) in Guanajuato, noted that Celaya's automotive market remains resilient. "Celaya boasts a significant presence of automotive agencies, contributing to its robust sales figures. The demand for vehicle purchases shows no signs of waning, and we anticipate this trend to continue its upward trajectory," González Palomino stated.
