Stellantis Mexico Marks 15 Years of Engine Production
Stellantis Mexico celebrated the 15th anniversary of its South Engine Plant in Coahuila, a production site for high-performance engines that has operated since 2010. The facility assembles the Pentastar engine, which has been recognized seven times by WardsAuto as one of the world’s best engines. The Pentastar is used in models such as the Dodge Durango, Chrysler Pacifica, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler and Ram ProMaster.
“Today we celebrate 15 years of operation, a milestone that reflects the effort, discipline and commitment of everyone who has been part of this great team. This anniversary marks not only the passage of time but also the consolidation of a history built by our people, who demonstrate every day that the real engine in this plant is its collaborators,” said Cosimo Marino, Vice President of Engine Manufacturing, Stellantis Mexico.
The South Engine Plant currently produces 13 versions of the Pentastar engine, including WL RWD, WL AWD, WL RHD, DT BSG, JL, JL Automatic, JL BSG, JT, JT Automatic, RU, RU AWD, VF and RU PHEV. These engines are exported to the United States and Canada and used in vehicles assembled at Stellantis’ Saltillo Light Duty and Saltillo Van plants.
Since opening on Oct. 29, 2010, the Coahuila plant has expanded to employ more than 900 workers and has produced over 7 million engines.
