Chinese company TYW Manufacturing inaugurated a new US$50 million (MX$957 million) production facility for electronic instrument panels in Irapuato, Guanajuato. The plant, located in the Guanajuato Industrial Park along the Irapuato–Abasolo highway, will create 1,000 direct jobs and supply components for global automotive manufacturers, including Kia and Stellantis, with exports primarily targeted to South Korea and the United States.

The company specializes in Tier 1 automotive electronics, including smart dashboards, LCD displays, composite screens, digital cockpits, and optical bonding technologies. TYW executives stated during the ceremony that the Irapuato plant is part of a multi-phase expansion strategy, with two additional phases already planned to increase production capacity and employment opportunities.

Claudia Cristina Villaseñor Aguilar, Secretary of Economy for Guanajuato, highlighted the workforce composition, which will include 650 women and 350 men from the surrounding municipalities of Irapuato, Abasolo, and Penjamo. “This investment strengthens the local industrial ecosystem with sustainable and socially responsible projects,” she said.

With the opening of this facility, Guanajuato further consolidates its role as a manufacturing hub for the global automotive industry. The state is now home to more than 10 Chinese firms, which have collectively invested over US$900 million and created more than 5,000 jobs in cities including Leon and Silao.

TYW representatives also emphasized the company’s long-term commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. According to company officials, the plant will promote internal ESG policies aligned with international standards.
