Japanese automotive components manufacturer Yazaki has temporarily suspended operations at its Leon plant after a geological fault was identified at the site, affecting over 2,000 employees. The company stressed that the measure is preventive and aimed at prioritizing worker safety.
The plant, located at kilometer three on the Leon–San Francisco del Rincón highway, produces electrical harnesses and other automotive components. “This suspension seeks to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our employees while we assess and address the geological conditions of the site,” Yazaki said in an official statement.
Authorities confirmed that the suspension does not signal a withdrawal from Guanajuato. Yazaki will continue operating its distribution centers in Silao and Leon, maintaining its commitment to the region’s economic and labor development.
The Guanajuato Secretary of Economy stated that the government is in constant communication with Yazaki to support affected workers. “The Government of the People reiterates its commitment to work closely with Yazaki and its employees, ensuring an orderly and responsible transition with full respect for labor rights,” the department said.
As part of the support program, the state will implement labor link initiatives, employee training, and productivity equipment programs, while the Coneecta platform will facilitate the rapid reintegration of employees into the job market.
