Yokohama Industries Americas of Mexico will invest MX$464 million (US25 million) to expand its production lines and warehouse facilities, company executives told Aguascalientes Governor Tere Jiménez Esquivel during the project’s launch. The automotive parts manufacturer aims to boost production capacity to meet the assembly needs of partners such as Nissan.

Takayuki Hamaya, president, Yokohama Rubber’s division, said the expansion “will allow us to achieve greater growth and broaden our business.” He added, “Mexico continues to be a stable and safe country for investment,” and expressed gratitude to the state government and the Aguascalientes community for their support. Hamaya also noted that “we have increased the number of employees to meet production requirements and fulfill the assembly needs of our partners; this reflects our commitment to excellence.”

Governor Jiménez Esquivel highlighted the state’s strong investment climate: “We are confident that this expansion by Yokohama is one of many Japanese projects that will continue arriving in Aguascalientes.” She noted that in 2Q25, the state received the highest amount of Japanese foreign investment, contributing to a total of more than US$8 billion from 1999 through June 2025, with 138 Japanese companies established in Aguascalientes.

The announcement took place at Parque Industrial San Francisco IV and was attended by Yasuhiko Tajima, president of Yokohama Industries Americas; Brian Franklin, vice president of Administration and Business Development; Humberto Bernal, plant manager in Aguascalientes; and Takero Aoyama, consul general of Japan in Leon, Guanajuato.
