Mexico accelerated its transformation into a regional digital infrastructure hub, with new projections showing 1,516MW of added data center capacity and over US$18 billion in expected investment by 2030, driven by AI and edge workloads. Public and private stakeholders are aligning: Google confirmed its first Mexican AI lab in Puebla, Mexico unveiled a national large language model (LLM) , and a new AWS-based Genesys Cloud Region in Queretaro promises to enhance latency-sensitive enterprise workloads. Meanwhile, Nuevo Leon’s upcoming HPC and AI Center adds another layer of high-end compute capacity. Collectively, these developments point toward a national strategy centered on advanced compute, sovereign AI capabilities, and localized cloud infrastructure, positioning Mexico as a growing node in the global AI supply chain.
