Oracle continues to strengthen its presence in Mexico with the opening of a new Oracle Cloud Region in Monterrey, making it the first hyperscaler provider to establish two cloud regions in the country. This expansion promises to provide Mexican enterprises increased digital availability, compliance with local regulations, and significantly reduced cloud operating costs.

Samuel García, governor of Nuevo León, announced the inauguration of the new region through a video posted on social media, highlighting its relevance in terms of the benefits and opportunities it will bring to companies, universities, and the state government. These benefits include enhanced efficiency in IT processes, strengthened data security, and optimized financial solutions, among other benefits.

According to Oracle, this project will provide Mexican companies with the necessary infrastructure to support their IT processes, providing more than 5,000 servers in spaces exceeding 10,000 square feet. The connections can reach speeds of 40 gigabytes per second or more, enabling the benefits of cabling technologies such as fiber optics.

Among the many advantages for businesses in Mexico, one of the most prominent is compliance with local regulations and data sovereignty, ensuring that data remains within the country of origin. This is a crucial consideration for companies operating in highly regulated industries.

In addition, Oracle Cloud's local presence enables Mexican companies to access more than 100 cloud services, optimizing their operations with state-of-the-art infrastructure. This includes reduced operating costs and improved performance thanks to the low latency provided by the geographic proximity of the data centers.

Another significant advantage is the availability of applications and data, which translates into greater business continuity. According to Oracle, the architecture of the cloud region is designed to maximize security and performance, enabling enterprises to operate with greater confidence.

Migration to the cloud is facilitated by the services offered by Oracle, allowing companies to move their IT workloads more efficiently. This process is further optimized with Oracle FastConnect, which provides private and secure connectivity between enterprise premises and Oracle's cloud regions.

Future Outlook

Oracle's continued expansion in Mexico is part of a global effort to grow its cloud infrastructure. With more than 40 Oracle Cloud Regions around the world, the company has demonstrated a steady development of secure, high-performance environments for companies in a variety of industries.

Oracle's existing infrastructure in Latin America includes its regions in Brazil, Chile, and Argentina, with plans to expand into Colombia. This regional growth is key to ensuring that companies in Latin America have access to advanced cloud technologies, improving their competitiveness and capacity for innovation in an increasingly digitized global market, needs that have intensified with the growth of the IT sector in the region.

In the specific case of Mexico, the collaboration with Telmex-Triara, established in September 2023 with the unique intention of developing this second region, has reinforced this commitment. Mauricio Alcocer, Director of Business and IT solutions at Telmex-Triara, highlighted that this collaboration will enable Oracle and Telmex-Triara to help more than 24,000 companies in Mexico in their digital transformation process over the next three years. This support will include the design, migration, operation, and management of cloud processes.

Maribel Dos Santos, General Manager of Oracle Mexico, emphasized that this new cloud region offers a significant opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Mexico. “With the ability to exploit innovations such as generative artificial intelligence and machine learning, SMEs can expand their operations and improve their competitiveness in the market,” Dos Santos told Expansión.
