UNF – Fullstack Launch Tech-Focused Bootcamp

In a recent announcement, the University of North Florida (UNF) has introduced two immersive bootcamp options designed to equip participants with the essential skills to compete in an enveloping digital economy. With a focus on high-demand areas, the six-month bootcamps offered by the UNF aims to teach vital technological skills for students aspiring to become adept in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning.

In a strategic collaboration, UNF partnered with Fullstack Academy to deliver the Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning and DevOps Programs, both accessible through an online platform. The 26-week curriculum was meticulously designed to encompass both theoretical and practical applications of these technologies.

"Through these bootcamps, students will grasp the fundamental concepts and theories of machine learning, seamlessly transitioning to hands-on, application-based training," says Edyhe Abdullah, Dean of Continuing Education, UNF. The online format of these bootcamps breaks down geographical barriers, making quality IT education accessible to a global audience. This approach becomes instrumental in addressing the pervasive shortage of IT talent, empowering individuals from diverse regions to engage in skill acquisition without the constraints of physical location.

UNF’s approach to AI Education aims to capitalize the future economic and educational potential surrounding emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence and big data. In fact, forecasts by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipate a 21% growth in employment for AI and machine learning professionals by 2030. Additionally, the dynamic AI sector is set to inject an impressive US$15.7 trillion into the global economy by 2035, according to PwC. In the current landscape, job listings for IT roles on platforms like LinkedIn prominently showcase remote and hybrid work options, accompanied by entry-level salaries reaching up to US$178,000 annually.

As Mexico aims to position itself as a regional technology hub, the government has taken steps to nurture technical talent to fuel tech-hungry industries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico and the Mexican Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AMEXCID), have forged a partnership with Huawei to introduce the "1,000 Talents Scholarship for Digital Development in Latin America and the Caribbean."

The scholarship offers several benefits, including waived course certification fees, attendance at online sessions with Huawei experts and associates for query resolution. Additionally, outstanding scholars will receive a 3-year Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCIA) digital certificate.

This strategic initiative exemplifies Mexico's resolute commitment to fostering a talent pool capable of propelling the nation’s standing in the digital era. Through this commitment, Mexico not only elevates its own potential but also contributes to alleviating the existing global shortage of IT talent.
