In a move to bolster the country's digital security environment, Mexico Business has formally joined the Alianza Mexico Ciberseguro (AMCS). This partnership represents an explicit commitment to collaborate on developing and implementing initiatives that promote a more secure, reliable, and resilient digital ecosystem for organizations and society.

"We are very grateful for the partnership between Mexico Business and the AMCS. It is a step forward in building stronger and more inclusive ties between businesses and public entities, all for a shared objective: Build a Cybersecure Mexico," says Sebastian Vazquez, Commercial Director, Mexico Business.

The formalization of this collaboration highlights a growing awareness within the private sector about the critical nature of cybersecurity. The official communication from Mexico Business reports that the decision is based on "the firm commitment to work jointly on the development and implementation of strategic actions that are aligned with the vision and objectives proposed by the AMCS."

Ernesto Ibarra, Founder, AMCS, and President, AMCID, welcomed Mexico Business, describing the union as the addition of a “strategic ally.” Together, both organizations aim to advance the consolidation of a cyber-secure Mexico.

The significance of this alliance becomes clear when analyzing Mexico's cybersecurity context. The country is a primary target for malicious cyber activities in Latin America. According to data from FortiGuard Labs, Mexico experienced 324 billion attempted cyberattacks during 2024, a figure that shows an escalation in the volume and sophistication of threats.

This scenario presents a systemic risk with a tangible economic impact. World Bank estimates indicate that annual losses from cyberattacks in Mexico exceed US$8 billion. This figure has the potential to inhibit GDP growth by up to 1.5%. These attacks affect large corporations, government entities, and SMEs, for which a single security breach can compromise operational viability.

Collaboration Details

The agreement details a concrete action plan. Through the leadership of Esly Cuevas, Partnerships and PR Manager, Mexico Business, the company will focus on four core commitments:

  1. Develop and Execute Pro-Cybersecurity Actions: To actively promote cybersecurity within its sphere of influence, contributing to the creation of a solid and sustainable digital security culture.

  2. Actively Collaborate on AMCS Initiatives: To participate in the alliance’s projects by sharing knowledge, experiences, and resources that strengthen the collective effort.

  3. Promote Good Practices and Standards: To adhere to and promote the frameworks and standards that the alliance recommends to ensure its own digital operations and services are secure.

  4. Participate in Strategic Ventures: To engage in high-impact initiatives developed under the Alliance's umbrella to build a resilient digital environment.

This synergy is expected to generate tangible results for the B2B sector. The promotion of unified standards and best practices aims to accelerate the adoption of more robust security postures across a wide network of companies. The collaboration will also facilitate the exchange of threat intelligence and mitigation strategies.
