Palo Alto Networks has launched Cortex Cloud, a solution that integrates cloud application protection, threat detection, and response into a single platform. Powered by AI and automation, the model enables real-time attack prevention and enhances security across enterprise environments.

"As more critical enterprise applications move to the cloud, security must expand to include industry-leading runtime protection," writes Lee Klarich, Chief Product Officer, Palo Alto Networks, in a press release.

According to Palo Alto’s Unit 42, the rapid adoption of cloud computing and a 66% increase in cloud-targeted threats have heightened the demand for comprehensive security solutions. Additionally, the fragmentation of security tools has made risk mitigation and operational efficiency more difficult.

Cortex Cloud combines Prisma Cloud and Cortex CDR into one unified solution within the Cortex SecOps platform, offering advanced capabilities in four key areas:

  • Application Security: Identification and prioritization of vulnerabilities throughout the development lifecycle, with integration into third-party scanners.

  • Cloud Security Posture: AI-driven automated remediation and risk prioritization for managing multi-cloud environments.

  • Runtime Security: Incorporation of the Cortex XDR agent with advanced analytics leveraging cloud data.

  • Enterprise SOC: Integration with Cortex XSIAM to reduce incident response times and optimize security operations.

Melinda Marks, Cybersecurity Practice Director, Enterprise Strategy Group, highlighted that the lack of integration among security tools has posed a significant challenge for cybersecurity teams. “With Cortex Cloud, the platform offers a code-to-cloud approach that enables teams to prioritize mitigation actions and accelerate incident response,” Marks said.
