Hot Sale 2025 Boosts Mexico’s Digital Retail
The 2025 edition of Mexico’s Hot Sale campaign, held from May 15 to June 2, generated strong activity across digital retail platforms, helping major companies like Mercado Libre and Walmart Mexico reach new benchmarks in units sold and omnichannel performance.
Mercado Libre reported selling 20 million units during the promotional period, averaging 1,500 items sold per minute. The company shipped 10 million packages, with half delivered within 24 hours, signaling a notable improvement in logistics. May 26 was its highest sales day. The company also recorded over 10,000 users joining its loyalty program during the event.
Walmart Mexico saw a 28% year-over-year increase in gross merchandise value across digital channels in its self-service formats. June 1 marked its top day for omnichannel sales this year. The retailer also set new records in mobile app downloads for its Walmart, Bodega Aurrera, and Sam’s Club platforms, while doubling On Demand grocery delivery orders via its Pronto service.
The most in-demand categories during the Hot Sale were electronics and home goods. At Mercado Libre, top-selling products by value included the Sony PlayStation 5, the Samsung Galaxy S25, and Samsung TVs. By volume, nutritional supplements and skincare products led the platform’s sales. Walmart also reported high demand for fans, mattresses, furniture, kitchen appliances and motorcycles.
According to Estephan Bonilla, E-Commerce Manager, NIQ Mexico, consumer behavior continues to evolve with a growing interest in online promotions, multichannel purchasing options, and flexible fulfillment models, reports Expansión. “Well-executed promotions and convenient formats can drive exponential growth in sales,” Bonilla says in a statement. “Hot Sale no longer just drives sales, it redefines digital consumption patterns.”
