Mexico City Launches Circularity Evaluation for Businesses
Mexico City’s Ministry of Environment (SEDEMA) has launched the Circularity Evaluation, a program designed to promote sustainable practices and strengthen the circular economy among businesses in Mexico City.
The Circularity Evaluation is open to micro, small, medium, and large enterprises across industrial, commercial, service, and entertainment sectors. Participating businesses will undergo an assessment to determine their compliance with circular economy principles and may be awarded the Distinctive of Circularity, an official recognition validating their commitment to reducing environmental impacts and adopting responsible production and consumption models.
The Distinctive of Circularity is granted by SEDEMA at four levels based on compliance percentages. Businesses meeting 80% of the criteria will receive the first level, while those achieving 90% qualify for the second level. The third level is awarded to companies reaching full compliance, and the fourth level is designated for businesses that continuously maintain 100% compliance.
