Mexico’s Hot Sale 2025, the country’s largest e-commerce campaign, reached record sales of MX$42.7 billion (US$2.5 billion), reflecting a 23.7% increase over the previous year, according to the Mexican Association of Online Sales (AMVO).

The results, compiled with support from Netquest, Similarweb, Onclusive, Shalion, Retail Compass, and Emplifi, show that four out of 10 internet users in Mexico made at least one purchase during the event. Digital channels dominated, with 90% of buyers using them, and 60% shopping exclusively online.

Throughout the campaign, 19.2 million orders were placed, totaling 38.8 million products sold. The average ticket size was MX$1,100, with each order containing roughly two items.

Participation grew among higher-income and banked consumers, particularly millennials, with notable increases in female buyers and shoppers from northern regions of the country.

Shoppers identified convenience, fast delivery, exclusive online availability, time savings, and ease of use as their main motivations for purchasing. Over half said they found products online that were unavailable elsewhere.

Top-selling categories included fashion (28%), beauty and personal care (20%), electronics like computers and mobile phones (18%), small appliances (17%), and audio/video equipment (16%).

Credit and debit cards remained the preferred payment methods, but there was notable growth in the use of digital benefit cards. Mercado Pago became the second most-used payment platform, credited with offering security, speed, and reliability.

Discounts above 40% and interest-free installments helped drive engagement. Most purchases were made for personal use (68%), followed by family (44%) and partners (21%). Home delivery was the preferred method, used in 80% of cases.

Online security perceptions remained high, with 83% of shoppers saying they felt safe during the campaign.

Website traffic to participating brands increased by 114% compared to the previous week, underscoring the event’s impact on digital retail. Now in its twelfth year, Hot Sale featured over 700 brands and was sponsored by Mercado Pago.
