During the president’s morning conference, Manuel Bartlett, Director General, CFE, discussed the company's role in the Mayan Train project. CFE will be responsible for electrifying 44% of the train's route, which covers 690km of the total 1,554km.

The electrification effort involves an investment of US$1.26 billion and includes the construction of 53 key projects, such as 11 transmission lines and 42 substations. These facilities are designed to provide the necessary power for the train's operation along its electrified route.

Among these projects are two new combined-cycle power plants in Merida and Valladolid, Yucatan, with a combined investment of US$1.216 billion. These plants will have a total capacity of 1,519MW, sufficient to meet the region's current electrical needs and support future growth, mentioned Bartlett.

Additionally, over 556km of medium-voltage lines have been built, and approximately 6,000 posts have been installed. This infrastructure will support more than 100 technical booths for train monitoring, as well as 171 associated services, including stations, maintenance bases, offices, and workshops.
