Danfoss Invested US$100 Million To Double Production In Monterrey
Danish engineering company Danfoss has completed an expansion of its manufacturing complex in Apodaca, Nuevo Leon, doubling its production capacity and adding 20,000 square meters across three new industrial buildings. The company argues that the four-year expansion worth US$100 million (MX$1.8 billion) strengthens its role as a key supplier of energy-efficient HVAC components to the North American and Latin American markets, and forms part of its broader LEAP 2030 strategy to localize production, accelerate delivery times, and reinforce supply chain resilience.
The Monterrey facility, which is LEED Silver-certified, includes an expanded compressor laboratory that has grown from 500 to 1,000 square meters, allowing for advanced testing and product development. The site employs more than 1,400 people and serves as a central hub within Danfoss’s Mexican footprint, which spans six plants across Monterrey, Queretaro, and Reynosa.
At the inauguration ceremony, Kim Fausing, CEO, Danfoss, emphasized the long-term role Mexico plays in the company’s operations. “Throughout the past 30 years, Mexico has become a vital market for Danfoss,” he said. “We are proud to continue expanding our resilient and integrated North American supply chain. Here in Monterrey, Danfoss Climate Solutions will produce advanced, sustainable technologies that set new standards in efficiency, performance, sustainability and reliability.”
Kristian Strand, President, Danfoss Climate Solutions, underscored that the expansion is directly tied to customer demand. “We have experienced strong double-digit growth in the US market this year and are determined to support our customers’ growth,” he said. “With the investment in increased production in Mexico, we are in an even stronger position to help them achieve their sustainability goals and create greater value through close collaboration and increased resilience in the supply chain.”
