Invenergy and Meta Platforms announced four new agreements to provide 791MW of solar and wind energy. These agreements will support Meta's data center operations, growth, and clean energy objectives.

The new agreements build on a prior 2024 announcement where Meta secured 1,000MW of energy from Invenergy. The total partnership between the two companies now stands at 1,800MW, including over 740MW of new generation in Ohio. The electricity from these projects will be delivered to the local grid, with Meta receiving the clean energy credits generated.

Ted Romaine, Executive Vice President of Origination, Invergy, says that achieving advances in AI requires "reliable, cleaner, affordable energy and energy infrastructure."

The four Invenergy-developed facilities contributing to these agreements are strategically located in the United States to address increasing energy demand. These are:

  • Yellow Wood Solar Energy Center (Ohio): 300 MW, expected to start commercial operations in 2027

  • Pleasant Prairie Solar Energy Center (Ohio): 140 MW, expected to start commercial operations in 2027

  • Decoy Solar Energy Center (Arkansas): 155 MW, expected to start commercial operations in 2027

  • Seaway Wind Energy Center (Texas): 196 MW, expected to start commercial operations in 2028

Mexico Growing Market for Data Centers

Mexico is also a growing market for data center development and renewable energy. The country's Ministry of Energy highlights the importance of a robust energy sector to support digital infrastructure growth. For example, companies like ODATA are expanding data center capacity in Mexico, particularly in Queretaro, and collaborating with Mexican companies focused on energy transition and renewable energy supply to address energy demands.
