ODATA, a subsidiary of Aligned Data Centers, announced the launch of its DC QR03 campus in Queretaro. This is the company's largest data center in Mexico, representing an investment of over US$3 billion and a projected total IT capacity of 400MW.

"With three hyperscale anchor customers already committed, QR03 is an established, highly connected campus and an essential interconnection hub for Queretaro and Mexico," Ricardo Alário, CEO of ODATA, said during the center’s inauguration.

The announcement comes in response to the sustained increase in demand for digital infrastructure, driven mainly by the exponential growth of cloud services and AI. According to market estimates, global investment in IT services will reach US$1.73 trillion in 2025, with a growth of 9.4% over the previous year. In parallel, the AI infrastructure market is expected to exceed US$200 billion in investments by 2028.

The demand for AI infrastructure in the cloud has taken a leading role. In 2024, 72% of total AI server spending went to solutions in shared environments. By 2027, AI is expected to represent 40% of the initial network configuration in data centers, evidencing a structural change in the enterprise digital architecture.

Mexico is consolidating as a strategic destination in this expansion. With a market estimated at US$1.06 billion in 2024 and projected growth to US$2.27 billion in 2030, the country is positioned as one of the main recipients of global investment in data centers. Queretaro stands out as a national hub due to its international connectivity, with seven active submarine cables and four new ones planned. It also has a favorable regulatory environment and specialized talent. The region expects to generate over 14,600 direct jobs linked to this industry, with a projected demand of more than 1,500MW in the coming years.

Campus Specifications

The DC QR03 campus, located in Queretaro's PyME Industrial Park, will have five buildings distributed over an area of almost 275,000m2. The first building, already operational, has a 72MW IT capacity and is designed to meet the demand of large-scale cloud and AI providers.

In February 2025, ODATA completed the energization of 200MW corresponding to the first phase of the project, addressing one of the sector's main challenges: the historical lag in electricity supply for digital infrastructure in Mexico. The second phase, currently under development, contemplates an additional 400MW expansion, positioning DC QR03 as one of the most robust IT infrastructures in the region.

The center will be the first campus in Mexico to incorporate Delta Cube (Delta³) cooling technology, an air solution patented by Aligned Data Centers. This technology supports densities of up to 50kW per rack and is characterized by capturing heat at the source, eliminating it directly without relying on traditional cold air conditioning methods. This operational efficiency significantly reduces the energy load and maximizes space utilization.

The flexible campus design also allows for the integration of liquid cooling, enabling hybrid solutions ready for next-generation AI loads. This technical capability is critical in the face of the accelerating growth trend of AI models that demand increased computational resources and thermal capacity. DC QR03 is designed to scale with these new demands without compromising performance or efficiency.

In addition to serving the Mexican market, the campus seeks to position itself as a strategic node for the US market. The energy restrictions in certain southern states of the United States and Queretaro's geographic proximity generate a competitive advantage for serving cross-border loads from Mexican territory, especially in a context of technological nearshoring.

ODATA, which originates from Brazil and is part of the Aligned Data Centers group, operates in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and Chile, with nine data centers in operation, three under construction, and a critical capacity of over 1.3GW distributed over 20 campuses.
