Minister of Energy Luz Elena González presented key areas for energy collaboration with the European Union during the Sixth Mexico–European Union Forum. González highlighted the Well–Being Development Poles included in Plan México as a "great opportunity to strengthen cooperation and investment."

González stated that Mexico and the EU share a common vision on issues including electromobility, microgrids, energy efficiency, and specialized technical training. The goal is for the relationship with Europe to result in long-term projects, responsible investment, and benefits for the people of both regions.

The development hubs are linked to productive sectors such as energy, automotive, agroindustry, pharmaceutical, and textile, and require energy infrastructure to reach their potential. Mexico proposes "innovative and creative" financing mechanisms and seeks to promote co-investments in clean technologies like solar thermal, geothermal, green hydrogen, and offshore wind.

SENER reiterated that Mexico will maintain its status as an oil producer but with a transition focus. She noted that PEMEX will remain an oil company but will aim to advance into an energy company. The strategic plan seeks to provide the NOC with financial viability to meet its obligations and generate high-value projects.

Mexico's goal is to reach 40% of electricity generation from clean sources by 2030, in line with international commitments. The country remains committed to working with the EU to build a cleaner, fairer, and sustainable energy future.
