The Energy Agency of Queretaro and ENGIE México have signed a collaboration agreement to advance sustainable development in the region. The partnership focuses on optimizing the efficient use of natural gas across industrial, commercial, and domestic sectors while leveraging existing state infrastructure.

The agreement also aims to accelerate the region's energy transition toward renewable alternatives such as biomethane and other clean energies. These efforts are designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote the decarbonization of production processes. The initiative also  includes labor inclusion programs targeting youth and women. It also involves social projects to support vulnerable communities.

“This agreement is an important step toward building a sustainable future in the region,” says Mauricio Reyes, head of the Energy Agency of Queretaro.

As ENGIE México strengthens its foothold in the country, the company has announced that Brice Clemente will assume the role of Country Manager in February 2025. Clemente’s top priorities will include completing the expansion of the Energía Mayakan project, ENGIE’s largest endeavor in Mexico. This project seeks to double the natural gas transportation capacity in the Yucatán Peninsula. Clemente will oversee the acceleration of renewable energy projects and ensure operational safety across the company’s activities in Mexico.

Under Clemente’s leadership, the company aims to capitalize on its infrastructure advancements and further support Mexico’s energy transition through sustainable solutions.
