AstraZeneca has inaugurated the expansion of its Global Innovation and Technology Center (GITC) in Guadalajara, marking a significant step in the company’s global digital transformation strategy and its long-term investment in Mexico’s technological ecosystem.

“Guadalajara is one of only two centers of its kind in the world—the technological heart that powers AstraZeneca’s innovation engine,” says Cindy Hoots, Chief Digital Officer and CIO,  AstraZeneca. “The GITC has evolved from operational excellence to become a true global innovation hub, thanks to the extraordinary talent here.”

The GITC now spans 17,000m2 and serves as a key pillar in AstraZeneca’s efforts to strengthen talent development, foster partnerships, and support innovation across its operations. Equipped with a new innovation hub and training center, the Guadalajara site will play a central role in developing patient-centric digital solutions that support the company’s research and product pipeline worldwide.

The expansion reinforces AstraZeneca’s commitment to its 2030 Bold Ambition, which aims to integrate cutting-edge digital technologies across the business. Together with its counterpart in Chennai, India, the Guadalajara center anchors AstraZeneca’s innovation network, contributing to operational efficiency, global collaboration, and the delivery of advanced solutions for patients.

Recently ranked first in the Great Place to Work listing for Information Technology companies in Mexico, the Guadalajara GITC exemplifies AstraZeneca’s focus on nurturing a workplace culture that drives continuous learning and innovation.

By expanding its footprint in Mexico, AstraZeneca is positioning the country as a strategic site within its global operations, leveraging local expertise and innovation capabilities to support growth both regionally and internationally.
