Mexico City Metro Launches Mental Health Campaign for Riders
The Mexico City Metro (STC Metro) is launching the "Wellbeing 360" campaign to promote mental health among the more than 4 million daily users of the subway network.
The campaign is a joint effort between STC Metro, ISA Corporativo, the Instituto del Propósito y Bienestar Integral at Universidad Tecmilenio, and Fundación Eva de Camou. The initiative seeks to foster emotional wellbeing by broadcasting audiovisual content across the subway network focused on stress management and positive emotions.
During the campaign’s launch, Adrián Rubalcava, Director General, STC Metro, emphasized that the initiative aligns with directives from Clara Brugada, Mexico City Mayor, to advance mental health support across the city’s transportation system. Rubalcava describes the campaign as a necessary and sensitive project aimed at improving the daily experience of subway users.
This new initiative complements existing subway programs, such as Salvemos Vidas (Let’s Save Lives), which supports individuals in crisis who may attempt suicide within the Metro system. The addition of "Wellbeing 360" expands the subway’efforts to address mental health from both preventive and emergency response perspectives.
The campaign reflects a growing trend among public institutions to integrate mental health strategies into everyday public spaces, especially in high-traffic environments such as urban transit systems.
