CMIC and INFONAVIT held a National Housing Plenary at CMIC’s headquarters to discuss improving access to housing solutions. During the plenary, both parties acknowledged the importance of CMIC members' participation in INFONAVIT's goal of constructing 500,000 housing units within six years.

Luis Méndez, National President, CMIC, expressed the chamber’s interest in supporting efforts to expand housing access and modernize INFONAVIT's operations. He emphasized collaboration and stated that CMIC aims to work with INFONAVIT. "We have the capacity, the experience, and the conviction that collaboration is the only way. We want this meeting to mark the beginning of a closer relationship between CMIC and INFONAVIT," Méndez added.

Octavio Romero, Director General, INFONAVIT, explained that the changes are intended to benefit beneficiaries, particularly those with lower incomes. He noted that while INFONAVIT's construction subsidiary will lead housing projects, collaboration with industry groups is necessary due to the projected construction volume of 500,000 new homes in the next six years.

Romero emphasized the necessity of private sector involvement and invited companies nationwide to participate, provided they meet specific technical and ethical standards. He outlined opportunities for participation, including construction and land contributions. The proposed housing prototypes will feature a 60m² private area and cost no more than MX$550,000 (US$27,000) for projects on land provided by INFONAVIT, or MX$600,000 for projects on land contributed by private developers.

Both parties reached agreements such as CMIC’s commitment to develop training courses and business certification programs to equip participants with the necessary knowledge of new construction and management regulations. A permanent support desk will be established at CMIC's headquarters to facilitate the review and processing of company applications and land proposals, to start construction in May 2025 for those that qualify.
