Marriott International announced its plans to reintroduce the Ritz-Carlton brand in Cancun, Quintana Roo with a new luxury resort and residential development, slated for completion in 2027. The project will be carried out in partnership with leading Mexican Real Estate Investment Trusts (FIBRAs), FibraHotel and FIBRA Danhos.

The development in Punta Nizuc will feature a 131-room resort and 126 branded residential units. The luxury hotel will be a joint venture between FibraHotel and FIBRA Danhos, and will be operated by the Ritz-Carlton. The residences will be developed by Beyond Ventures. The project aims to meet the growing demand for high-end travel experiences in Cancun, which continues to attract millions of international tourists every year, says FibraHotel.

Brian King, President for the Caribbean and Latin America, Marriott, expressed excitement about the venture, citing the popularity of Cancun and the broader Mayan Riviera as a major destination. "Cancun’s combination of natural beauty, rich culture, and modern amenities makes it an ideal location for this type of project," King noted.

The resort, located on a private peninsula close to Cancun International Airport, will offer oceanfront views, a beachfront pool complex, a spa, and multiple gourmet dining options. FIBRAHotel announced that the project, which will have LEED certification for sustainability, will be designed by the renowned architecture firms Lissoni & Partners and Cherem Arquitectos.

The developers highlighted the potential of Cancun as a growing hub for luxury real estate and tourism. In a joint statement, FibraHotel, Fibra Danhos, and Beyond Ventures described the project as an investment in the future of the region’s hospitality sector.
