The first electric bus assembled in Mexico will be used in Grupo Xcaret’s facilities located in Quintana Roo, as the company aims for its facilities to use 100% electric mobility.

The bus, produced by Scania Mexico, will be the first electric bus assembled in Mexico. Introduced by both companies after the launch of the "Scania Volt e-Urviabus," it will operate as the EcoBus Xcaret. It will use ABB electric mobility solutions and its body will be assembled by Beccar. The bus is part of Xcaret’s plan to switch to fully electric mobility in the coming years, explained Scania Mexico via a press release.

“For Scania, sustainable transport is key to a better future, through three pillars that accompany our business methodology, we focus on comprehensive sustainable transport solutions, we take care that our products and services are economically viable and profitable. In addition, we take care that, throughout the value chain in which we intervene, the socio-environmental impacts generated by the transport business are taken care of and measured,” says Alejandro Mondragón, CEO, Scania Mexico.

EcoBus Xcaret will allow the company to strengthen its All-Fun Inclusive concept, providing the company with round-trip transportation from its hotels to its parks, which will help to create more efficient processes that produce less emissions.

“We take a big step in our commitment to reduce emissions by presenting, together with Scania, the first 100% electric bus assembled in Mexico, a milestone that undoubtedly fills Grupo Xcaret with pride, since it not only allows us to advance in electromobility issues, but at the same time, boosts the Mexican economy and supports innovations and technological developments made in our country,” says Elizabeth Lugo, Executive Director of Parks and Tours Operations, Grupo Xcaret.
