FreightCar America Invests US$35.1 Million in Coahuila
The Government of Coahuila inaugurated the expansion of Freightcar America’s facilities in the state. Freightcar America specializes in railroad car production and the expansion of its plant in Castaños, which represents a US$35.1 million investment, will contribute to Coahuila's economic growth.
"We accompanied Freightcar at the opening of their new plant. With an investment of US$35.1 million and the creation of 500 new jobs, we are moving forward in bolstering the economy of this region in Coahuila. With the plan we have through the Coahuila Global and ProCoahuila axis, more investments with better jobs are coming for our people," says Manolo Jiménez, Governor of Coahuila.
Jiménez adds that his administration supports entrepreneurs who trust Coahuila as a destination for their investments, emphasizing that his government is an ally for those seeking to work, start businesses, or invest in the region. He says that the best way to overcome adversity in the region is to promote new investments and diversify the economy.
"In addition to this region consolidating as the strongest cluster in railroad car manufacturing, we must take advantage of other industries very close to us," says Jiménez.
He also says that many investments are coming to Coahuila, and it is necessary to capitalize on this phenomenon since the state is close to the golden area of the automotive industry. "Companies that have already set their sights on Monclova continue to arrive due to the quality of the workforce, workers who make the railroad cars of this region the best in the world in terms of quality," says Jiménez.
His administration is also investing in infrastructure works throughout the state, including the expansion of the Carlos Salinas de Gortari bypass and several works to improve pavement, water, drainage, electrification, and school infrastructure. Additionally, a strong investment in health and security ensures Coahuila remains peaceful and safe, says Jiménez.
The company is confident that it will continue to grow in Coahuila, says Nicholas Randall, COO, FreightCar America.
