IDB Invest has partnered with Nokia to launch a US$50 million financing facility designed to accelerate digital connectivity across Latin America and the Caribbean. The initiative will allow Nokia to provide flexible payment terms to communication service providers, enabling faster investments in secure, high-performance network infrastructure.

The program will debut in Mexico before expanding to other countries in the region. By facilitating greater access to trusted telecommunications technologies, the partnership seeks to strengthen digital connectivity, enhance competitiveness, and foster innovation.

Millions in Latin America and the Caribbean lack internet access, while many others face unreliable service and limited coverage. Rural and remote areas remain underserved, and concerns about network security persist. Expanding access to certified and secure technologies is seen as crucial for economic growth, improved public services, and regional resilience.

This financing solution represents a new approach to broadband investment by aligning infrastructure spending with revenue generation. By easing cash flow constraints and reducing reliance on traditional debt, the facility will support the rapid deployment of digital infrastructure in underserved areas through sustainable financing models.

Through this initiative, IDB Invest and Nokia reaffirm their commitment to building a more connected and competitive Latin America and the Caribbean, where reliable digital access serves as a driver of opportunity and inclusion for all.
