The State of Mexico Electrifies Mexibús Line 2
The State of Mexico launched a fully electric service in Mexibús Line 2. The local government said this move will benefit inhabitants of the Ecatepec, Cuahutitlan Izcalli, Tultitlan, and Coacalco municipalities.
Governor Delfina Gómez presided over the launch, which included 25 electric units. The electric line connects Las Americas in Ecatepec to Rio de los Remedios in Mexico City, cutting travel times nearly in half, from 90 minutes to 40. The route follows the Urban Highway Siervo de la Nacion and integrates with Mexico City’s Metrobús Line 5.
According to local Minister of Mobility Daniel Sibaja, this effort is part of a broader plan to renew the Mexibús fleet. Gómez noted that transportation upgrades in Toluca are also being planned to extend the modernization efforts across the state. In addition to the Mexibús project, the government introduced 10 electric taxi units in Huixquilucan, furthering the state’s electrification goals.
According to the local government, the electric units aim to enhance public transport efficiency and support environmental objectives. They are equipped with monitoring systems, internet access, and charging ports for passengers.
