Amazon Invests in CIIT; López Obrador To Revamp Rails

This week, UPS announced the redesign of its air routes from Nuevo Leon and Queretaro to bolster international trade for local businesses. Simultaneously, Mexico’s Minister of Foreign Relations unveiled that Amazon is investing in the Interoceanic Corridor (CIIT) during a forum organized by the International Development Bank (IDB).

Moreover, Section 2 of the Mayan Train plans to incorporate facilities for cargo transfer, while authorities say that ticket prices will be less expensive than bus fares. Meanwhile, Greenbrier announced its largest investment in Mexico, amounting to US$1.8 billion that will be used to upgrade its plant in Tlaxcala.

UPS Redesigns Air Routes to Benefit SMEs in Monterrey, Queretaro

To boost the internationalization of Mexican SMEs, UPS Mexico announced it would expand its air routes from Nuevo Leon by 35% and from Queretaro by 100%. “Our investment in this strategic region strengthens our presence and capacity to better serve our clients,” says Erika Ceciliano, Director of Operations and Customs, UPS Mexico. 

Amazon Invests in the CIIT: Minister of Foreign Relations

During the IBD’s Responsible Investment Forum, Mexico’s Minister of Foreign Relations Alicia Bárcena announced that Amazon is already investing in the CIIT. Bárcena adds that Amazon and the Mexican Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

Greenbrier to Invest US$103 Million in Tlaxcala

Greenbrier, a leading US transportation equipment manufacturer, announced a MX$1.8 billion investment to upgrade its plant in Tetla de la Solidaridad, Tlaxcala. The investment will be divided into two phases and support the construction of a new warehouse, the acquisition of equipment, and the creation of more jobs.

López Obrador Wants to Reshape Mexico’s Railways

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that the government plans to introduce a decree to adapt cargo railway tracks for passenger service. He encouraged railway concessionaires to participate in an incoming tender to help enhance passenger service.

Mayan Train Section 2 to Include Cargo Transfer, Low Ticket Fares

Óscar Lozano, Managing Director, Mayan Train, confirmed that Section 2 of the Mayan Train will incorporate facilities for cargo transfer, making it the fourth section to include this asset. President López Obrador assured that Mayan Train tickets will be 10% less expensive than bus fares; sales are set to begin on Dec. 1.
