BNSF, CSX Launch New Coast-to-Coast Intermodal Services
BNSF and CSX are launching a series of new intermodal services designed to provide customers with seamless, efficient, coast-to-coast shipping solutions between the western and eastern United States.
“This collaboration between BNSF and CSX demonstrates the power of partnership, delivering greater flexibility, efficiency and value for our customers. We are looking forward to these offerings providing immediate, streamlined service to the supply chain across key markets nationwide,” says Jon Gabriel, Vice President of Consumer Products, BNSF Group.
Among the highlights is the introduction of new, direct domestic intermodal services linking Southern California with Charlotte, North Carolina, and Jacksonville, Florida. In addition, the two railroads will debut a new service between Phoenix, Arizona, and Atlanta, Georgia, aiming to shift over-the-road (OTR) freight to rail by delivering a streamlined, integrated offering.
“Through this new connectivity, CSX and BNSF are connecting Western and Eastern US markets, creating faster, more reliable service. Together, we are opening access to key markets and strengthening options for our mutual customers,” says Drew Johnson, Vice President of Intermodal Sales and Marketing, CSX.
BNSF and CSX also unveiled new international intermodal services connecting the Port of New York and New Jersey, as well as Norfolk, Virginia, directly to Kansas City. This move will expand options for shippers looking to link East Coast ports with key inland US markets.
To further enable capacity and efficiency, BNSF is adding two new 10,000-foot sidings between Phoenix and Flagstaff. These sidings will improve meet/pass operations on the critical Southern Transcon route, enhancing service reliability for the growing Arizona market.
